a translated love story
Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful girl who was born with gold and silver, talented and good at almost all kinds of art, leading a happy life.
She was always single despite the matchmaker came for her time and time again. She was awaiting her true love to come, day after day.
One day, when she was playing in a temple, she saw a handsome boy in the crowd, who she thought must be her final true love, it was no doubt.
However, because it was too crowded, she couldn't get any closer to the boy, only seeing him passing by and disappearing into the crowd. She was so upset about that.
In the following two years, she was searching for him all around, but in vain, as if he was evaporated like a drop of water in the sun.
The girl prayed to the Buddha every day, wishing to see him again, even for once. And the Buddha was moved by her sincerity, and showed its presence.
The Buddha said," Are you really willing to see the man again?"
"yes, even for once" said the girl.
Buddha said:" But you have to give up all you have, your families and your happy life, if you really want to see him again."
" I can give up all those." said the girl, without hesitation.
"and you have to make a 500-year monkery before you can see him, will you regret?"
"no"
So that the girl turned into a hard stone, lying in the wild field, suffering from the vicious sun and fierce storms, but it was nothing to the girl, what grieved her most was that there was no one coming towards her, let alone the man. she was so despaired, on the point of collapse.
Then, a team of workers came. Seeing its hugeness, they made it into a long stone bar, and transported it into the town to build a bridge, so that the girl became the fence of the bridge.
Right on the first day the bridge was built, the man came up, who she had been awaiting for 5 hundred years.
He was in a hurry as if he had something urgent to do, rushing across the bridge, without a glance at the fence. He would never know there was a girl staring at him for a long long time.
The man disappearing again, the Buddha came up.
The Buddha said,” you did see him, are you satisfied?”
“no, if I were in the middle of the bridge, I could have been seen, or even touched by him.” said the girl.
“do you really want to touch him? If so, you need another 5 hundred years’ monkery.”
“I wish.”
“won’t you regret for the bitter you suffered?”
“never” the girl said determinedly.
Then the girl turned into a big tree, standing in the middle of the road with people walking back and forth. She looked at those people walking by everyday, but it made her more miserable, for she would lose hope every time she saw a man walking by, who turned out to be not the one she wanted.
But for the past five hundred years’ monkery, she would have been broken down earlier.
Another five hundred years past by. She knew the holy moment was coming, but she didn’t feel too excited or something.
He came, there he came. The man was still in white, with a handsome face, making the girl almost crazy.
It was so hot that day, and he really needed some place to take a break. He noticed there was a big tree, and walked to the shade of it. He sat down, leaning on the tree. He closed his eyes, and then got to sleep.
The girl and the man were so closed, and they really touched. But she could not tell him what she did in the past thousand years. She could only be his shelter, kept him from the vicious sunshine.
However, the man just slept for a while, because he was on mission. He stood up and clapped the dust on his clothes. When he was about to leave, he had a look at the tree, and caressed the trunk, as if he was showing gratitude to the tree.
And then he walked away and vanished in the eyesight of the girl. At that moment, the Buddha appeared again.
Buddha said,” do you want to marry him? If so, you need to…”
The girl interrupt him, and said,” yes, I want to, but I don’t think it’s necessary.”
The Buddha got amazed.
The girl continued,” did her wife do the things as I did?”
The Buddha nodded.
“I can do this, but I don’t have to.” The girl smiled.
At this moment, the girl found that the Buddha sighed, slightly. So, she asked,” what’s the matter?”
The Buddha then laughed,” that’s a good thing, you know the boy, who had been awaiting you for 2 thousand years? He doesn’t have to wait any longer.”
故事很简单但是很发人深思,翻译得不好...别打我哈!!
